The Carleton County Animal Shelter was founded in 1995. CCAS currently has the capacity to house 52 cats and 6 dogs. The CCAS serves Carleton County including the Town of Woodstock and surrounding areas.
The CCAS is a no-kill shelter, meaning that animals will not be euthanized because of a lack of space. Euthanasia is reserved for a last resort and is performed only when our veterinary care providers deem it necessary to prevent suffering.
The CCAS is a registered non-profit charitable organization which receives no on-going government funding. The shelter's operating expenses of more than $100,000 per year are almost exclusively paid for by donations and proceeds from fundraising activities.
